Armagnac
Guide
Armagnac
All the factors that go into making a great armagnac are explained, as are the differences between it and cognac.
Chateau de Lacaze Armagnac 1982
Chateau de Lacaze Bas Armagnac is vintage Armagnac matured in barrels in damp cellars - thus reducing a little the 'angel's share' and giving a more complex and subtle finish to this Armagnac domaine. A mature amber coloured Armagnac embracing the harmony of fruits and wood. The mouth has a full flavour expressing hints of orange and oak, but portrays no aggressive traits. A long, well-integrated finish lingers sweetly upon the palate. Price: $37.50

Armagnac
Armagnac is one of the most elegant after dinner spirits in the world. The best Armagnac comes from Bas Armagnac, or lower Armagnac. Armagnac is a grape brandy from the Gascony region of Southwestern France. Its closest relative is Cognac, another grape brandy from an appellation located about 100 miles north of Armagnac. Most Armagnac today is blended from different vintages, but some of the older vintage Armagnacs can still be found.
