Kasteel Brown Ale
In 1986, the Van Honsebrouck family purchased and restored an historic castle which was built in 1705 by Robrecht de Fries, count of Flanders. This castle was built on top of the ruins of a convent that was itself constructed over an by abbey first built by English monks in 1640. The cellars of the castle are used to mature beers from the brewery. After Luc Van Honsebrouck bought Ingelmunster Castle he launched the popular Kasteel. The idea of brewing a gastronomic beer came to him after tasting aged 'Kasteel'.
Kasteel Brown Ale 750ml. Bottle
This wintery, warm and 11% strong Donker pours a deep and rich ruby with a tan head that is quick to part, but leaves a joyfully intricate lacing in its stead. Its toffee aroma quickly reveals robust roasted malt, burn sugar tastes and rich port wine-esque fruits like, apricot and cherry. It's aromas like these that make this beer the perfect sipper to take the edge off of those rainier days – whether the rain is literal or figurative. A thick and silky body divulges exceptional saccharine tastes.
