Reflective of Europe's finest Pilseners, Blue Paddle delivers a refreshing bitterness, vibrant finish and a subtle but intricate depth of flavor. Unlike the old world examples, this landlocked Pilsener is only shipped within our small Western territory.

While there are some truly exceptional versions of Lagers or Pilseners available today, these bottom fermented beers are like flags - every country on the planet has to have one. With people's ever-refining beer palates, it's pretty easy to recognize the vast chasm in quality between the few hand-crafted Pilseners and the ubiquitous mass produced cold ones.
With Blue Paddle, we had to make sure to produce a beer that was definitive of
the upper echelon. Peter Bouckaert and the brewers, in researching lagers,
asked our permission to look beyond the boundaries of Belgium, which until now
had been the sole inspirational homeland of our beer recipes. Blue Paddle, as
a result, has a bit more body than the typical Belgian Pils and, with a malt
only (no rice, corn,etc...)brewing is closer in character to a Bohemian Style.
High impact crispness from noble hop varieties followed by a rich depth of
malt flavors.
So where did we dig up that name "Blue Paddle"? We had a "Name Our Next Beer"
contest in January of 1998. The winner, Brian Goodwin, gave us this double
entendre because not only is it reflective of great times spent on the water
but it also reminded him of the paddle his Grandma spanked him with when
caught stealing sips of beer.
We hope this Pilsener has you and Brian saying "thank you, Grandma, may I have
another?"
