The original single-barrel bourbon. Introduced in 1984, the Master Distiller carefully monitors the aging of selected barrels until they reach the peak of maturity.
The bottle and history alone are enough to get us interested in the bourbon but wait until you lift the cork stopper. The color is wonderful deep amber. On the nose this bourbon gives strong hints of toffee/caramel. Cut with water it entices me. I taste very strong caramel flavors. The finish continues with wonderful caramel notes and a hotness that you might describe as peppery. Blanton's is a handcrafted premium Kentucky bourbon, aged to perfection and bottled one barrel
at a time in very limited quantities.
Blanton's
A traditional way that spirit aficionados compare and judge the quality of a fine whiskey or bourbon is called "Nosing". Of course professional nosing takes years of experience. But, with a little practice, it's easy to get extra pleasure from the unique bouquet of Blanton's Bourbon by nosing before sipping.
A tulip shaped glass is best for nosing and tasting Blanton's Bourbon because it helps release and concentrate the aromatics at the rim, but a wine glass may also be used. Sampled neat it is true to traditional bourbon with solid caramel, toffee and, I think, a hint of vanilla. Your glass should be clean and odor-free.
