Pepper 1776 Bourbon
While Jame E. Pepper is indeed legendary and one of the oldest
distillers in the nation, that does not mean anything but his name and maybe
whiskey flavor profile have anything to do with this whiskey. But it is a good
story… “In this bottle lies the oldest and most legendary whiskey legacy in
American history. The same old style and methods have been preserved and
restored in this fine whiskey”.
The bourbon comes from Indiana where its original form had been manufactured by
the family Pepper. By now the Georgetown Trading Company has overtaken the
production of the whiskey and streamlined the original recipe. The result is the
delicious 1776 Bourbon Whiskey, which is made without the use of cool
filtration, thus making it a real trendsetter. The drink with the rather strong
alcohol level of 50% is pleasantly sweet without coming on too strong. It comes
with aromas of honey, vanilla, toffee, spices and dark chocolate.

According to US Trade Legislation, a “bourbon” is a type of whiskey where the
“mashbill”—which is the recipe of grains used to produce the whiskey—consists of
51% - 80% corn. Typically, distillers use approximately 70% corn content and are
free to choose other grains for the remainder of the mashbill. The type of grain
used will affect the style and flavors of the whiskey.
