Gin

If you open a map of the world and cast your eye to the very bottom, you'll find two small islands surrounded by thousand of miles of Ocean. It's on these islands South is made. Here, using a blend of provincial knowledge and natural extracts from nine different botanicals they distill what is believed by many to the the world's freshest gin. SOUTH.
In 2005, the Monde Selection in Brussels awarded South Gin (made by Pacific Dawn Distillers of New Zealand) the "Grand Gold with Palm Leaves," rating it the best gin in the world.

The reason South is so popular is the purity of the water that falls on their fiords and surrounding highlands. By introducing this water to GE free wheat they create a grain neutral spirit, distilling twice, 'washing in spring water' then distilling again. The mythological origins of Maori society are laid out in three major myth cycles, beginning with the creation myth of Ranginui, the sky father, and Papatuanuku, the earth mother. The second sequence of myths deals with the adventures of the demi-god Maui, who fished up the land and brought many benefits into the world for humankind. The third series of myths deals with the life of Tawhaki, the model of an aristocratic and heroic figure. The botanicals of juniper berries, lemon, orange, coriander seeds, angelica leaves, orris and gentian root are blended in and then softly shaded with local berries, two of which are native: manuka berries and kawa kawa leaves, for a fragrance 'similar to walking through the bush after it's rained'. These same native botanicals, kawakawa and manuka, also form a large part of "Rongoa Maori", the traditional medicines of the Maori people of Aotearoa. New Zealand was one of the last areas on Earth to be settled by humans. No credible evidence exists of human settlement in New Zealand prior to the Polynesian voyagers; on the other hand, compelling evidence from archaeology, linguistics, and physical anthropology indicates that the first settlers came from East Polynesia and became the Māori. It's a unique taste that reflects the natural flavor.
