Aperol originated in 1919 in Padova, it was a product of the Barbieri Brothers who launched the revolutionary idea of an aperitif with an alcohol content of only 11 percent. From then until today the popularity of Aperol has grown continuously, thanks to its fresh and versatile taste and its capacity to be mixed with so many other drinks.
Because of the complexity of the spirits –both Aperol and Campari are made from
a secret combination of herbs and roots, with some citrus and a hint of
sweetness—and striking color, each one brings a lot of flavor without a lot of
effort. Choosing between the two is mostly a matter of your desire for
bitterness – Campari is very, very bitter, with some vegetal notes, where Aperol
is a bit more refined. Purchased in the ‘90s by Barbero 1891, Aperol then entered Gruppo Campari's portfolio, reaching new records of popularity and diffusion.
The name says it all, Aperol is a perfect aperitif. With a lively orange color, it has a distinct flavor thanks to its unchanged secret recipe which is made up of an infusion of valuable prime materials such as bitter and sweet orange, china, gentian, rhubarb and many other herbs and roots mixed to perfection. In Italy the aperitif of the moment is the Aperol ‘Spritz’: prosecco, soda and a dash of Aperol.
With its mellow orange color, citrus nose and refreshing unique taste, Aperol
can be drunk by everyone. A cocktail that only has three
ingredients is quick to prepare in a bar and can also be replicated at home.
Enjoy Aperol in its signature form, the Aperol Spritz which uses 2 parts Aperol,
3 Part Prosecco, top with soda water & serve over ice. Aperol’s strong point is its light alcoholic content of only 11% and its ability to be enjoyed with friends at home or at the bar.
