Back in 2011 the brothers Litel, along with their friend Skip Cortese, founded
Louisiana Spirits and started producing Bayou Rums in Lacassine, Louisiana.
Bayou Rum was founded on the notion that handcrafted rum from cane grown in
Louisiana would be valued by rum connoisseurs and consumers alike. They
finally launched their products in 2013 and in the 2 short years since have been
recognized 72 times in tasting competitions for their rums which are handcrafted
in copper pot stills using Louisiana sugarcane and molasses.
Bayou Satsuma Rum Liqueur is a delicious blend of Bayou Silver Rum, Satsuma
juice, and a pinch of raw Louisiana sugar for a taste like no other.

Satsuma is a type of orange that originated in China and Japan and eventually
took root in Louisiana and is one of the sweetest citrus varieties. Satsuma
trees are common all over Louisiana since Satsumas are known for their
cold-hardiness. Colder weather actually sweetens the fruit. The nose is
completely dominated by the orange aroma, which is itself dominated by the smell
of the orange zest. During the last Satsuma harvest in Louisiana, they started
mixing this brilliant citrus juice with Bayou Rum and the taste was so smooth
and refreshing they decided to bottle it!
