Springbank Distillery was officially established in 1828 on the previous illicit site of Archibald Mitchell, great-great grandfather of the present Chairman, Mr. Hedley Wright. It was Archibald's sons, John and William who took out a licence and distilled legally as J & W Mitchell.
However, John and William were farmers as well as distillers, and quarrels about sheep eventually led them to go their separate ways. John took his own son Alexander into partnership and the name changed to J & A Mitchell & Co. Ltd., as it is today.

The light color of this malt belies the richness of its character. Whilst the nose suggests a wide range of aromas, from citrus fruits to pears and a hint of peat, the palate excites even further with touches of smoke, vanilla essence, nutmeg, cinnamon and the salty tang we have come to expect from Springbank.

COLOUR: Bronze, slightly pink
NOSE: Very light and fruity, the port pipes have delicately influenced the nose.
Left to breath, sherbet notes, mixed with malt, cream and dried fruits are all present, without overpowering the whisky
PALATE: Sweet and creamy on the palate. Dried apricots, caramelised sugar and vanilla compliment each other in equal measures.

COLOUR: Light Gold
NOSE: The presence of cinnamon, vanilla and coconut are the result of 32 years maturing in re-fill sherry casks. These wood extracts combine beautifully with subtle lavender, a hint of the sea and delicate fruits to give a very complex whisky.
PALATE: Initially very oily, the taste soon mellows into rose petals and soft orchard fruits.
FINISH: The velvet sweetness of the palate lingers on in the finish.
