Old Smuggler is a blended Scotch Whisky with a history that goes back to 1835.
Its fine, smooth taste is due to its being specially blended from the finest of
Scotch whiskies in the tradition of 18th century Smugglers who risked their life
and honor to share its taste with their loyal customers throughout the islands.
Old Smuggler is a blend whisky, elaborated from Scottish malts. It is a “blen d
whisky”. This kind of whisky born in Scotland on the middle of the XIX century,
elaborated since the Aeneas Coffey creation. This spirit uses grain for the elaboration

character and style. Master blenders recommend that inexperienced whisky drinkers begin their initiation with the standard blends that are typically lighter than the older deluxe and luxury varieties.

In 1644, the Scottish Parliament introduced a notorious excise duty on Scotch whiskey. This tax would continue to rise for the next several decades. This was simply unacceptable to those whose families had been making whiskey mainly for themselves. Blended Scotches involve from as little as a half-dozen whiskies to as many as 50. The average blended Scotch routinely owns a ratio of roughly two-thirds grain whisky to one-third malt whisky.
