Teacher's Scotch: In 1830, William Teacher took advantage of the new "Excise Act" and began selling his whisky. From 1832 he was selling it from his wife's grocery shop in Glasgow. By 1856, with help from his sons, he was granted a licence for consumption and opened his own dram shop. Teacher's became an immensely successful brand as the company hedged its sales during the First World War by distributing to its customers ration coupons, which entitled them to only five glasses of Teacher’s per week. At 45% it has one of the highest single malt contents of any blend and uses fully peated Ardmore whisky as it’s fingerprint malt. The combination is incredible depth and smoothness combined with rich smoky undertones.
