Longrow Single Malt Scotch
10 year old The "original Longrow" was produced by Longrow Distillery, which was founded sometime around the middle 1800s, but was closed in 1896--one of over thirty Campbeltown distilleries that would close during the first third of the twentieth century. The name of an old Campbeltown distillery, Longrow was first distilled at Springbank in 1973. This whisky is double distilled in the traditional Scottish manner from malt dried entirely over a peat fire. It has inspired an obsessive cult following, due to its powerful peat smoke character and partly due to its very limited availability. Springbank Distillery produces Longrow single malt whisky in the same distillery equipment as it does its namesake malt. The major differences, generally speaking, are that Longrow is much more heavily peated and somewhat drier. The extended drying period of the malt by peat may lead one to associate Longrow with the Islay malts. Colour: Pale straw Nose: Unmistakeable. Dry, pungent peat smoke and subtle tar notes. Palate: Dominant peat character. A delicate vanilla sweetness from the bourbon casks subtly asserts its presence to give the perfect balance. Finish: The sweetness subsides and gives way to an intense peaty, smoky finale.

Single Malt
indicates that the whisky was made in only one distillery and has not been blended with any other whisky from another distillery. It may contain whisky from several batches, and some could be two or three years older than the age on the bottle. The age statement on the bottle must show youngest whisky contained within the bottle. They are found predominantly in Speyside, the Highlands, and the islands of the west coast.
Scotland has approximately 92 malt whisky distilleries.
