The old railway station at Knockando became the visitor centre at Tamdhu Distillery.
Until Macallan joined the Highland distillers group, that company’s principal bottled Speyside malt was Tamdhu. Tamdhu has a sizable and impressive Saladin maltings, providing for all its own needs and those of several other whisky makers. A modest reminder of this is the stylized ear of barley that appears on the label of the principal version of Tamdhu.
Lightly perfumed: fondant icing, sweet cereal, apricot jam, clove, almost like a light gold rum. Drier and grassier with water. Silky. Nut and vanilla. Dries nicely in the middle. Flowers and spiciness on the back palate.
