Tommaso Bussola Wines
Tommaso Bussola Wines
Tommaso Bussola is clearly one of the leaders in Valpolicella. Not originally from a noted winemaking family, Bussola
purchased his winery and vineyards in the early 1990s. Tommaso took over over his uncle's Valpolicella estate-with its prized old vineyards in the heart of the Classico zone-in the mid-1980's. While vineyard work came naturally to him, he experimented relentlessly, and absorbed information and ideas from every source available. With an eye to preserving the balance of the plant to the maximum no chemical herbicides or pesticides
are employed. Proof that this was the right path, came in the form of acclaimed recognition at early wine tastings. With each passing vintage, his wines came to show more polish, finesse, intensity, and personality.

Tommaso Bussola Recioto della Valpolicella 2000
A brilliant deep ruby in color, exceptionally rich and almost decadently sweet on the nose, it is equally luscious and mouth-filling on the palate, viscous, caressing, and with an uninterrupted flow of gratification from the initial sensations to the long, lingering close.
"What this producer is capable of in a more favorable year is shown by the 2000 Valpolicella Superiore TB, warm and lightly jammy in aroma, full, round, and sustained on the palate, a Valpolicella with, unusually, seven or eight years of life ahead of it." -Rated 90, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Opulent, harmonious and confident in its typicity, this Amarone’s pretty nose
is bolstered by dried red currant berries, tea leaf, coffee and chocolate
nuances. It imparts ripe fruit flavors and noticeable sweetness in the mouth and
also delivers clean freshness and firm structure." -Rated 93, Wine Enthusiast
It, Now! |
With its cypress-crested hills and beautiful stone farmhouses, Tuscany is the pin-up queen of Italian enology. The region’s iconic dreamscape has helped promote the image of Italian wine abroad unlike no other. Within Tuscany’s borders is a treasure-trove of excellent wines: Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, San Gimignano whites, Bolgheri and Maremma reds. Italy’s wine revolution started here when storied producers like Piero Antinori worked outside appellation regulations to make wines blended with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon. These wines are known as SuperTuscans and are considered par with the top crus of Bordeaux and California.
