Buying Absinthe made easy
Absinthe is a distilled, highly alcoholic, anise-flavored spirit derived from herbs including the flowers and leaves of the medicinal plant Artemisia absinthium, also called wormwood. Absinthe originated in Switzerland as an elixir, but is better known for its popularity in late 19th and early 20th century France, particularly among Parisian artists and writers whose romantic associations with the drink still linger in popular culture. The classic absinthe ritual involves placing a sugar cube on a flat perforated absinthe spoon, which rests on the rim of the glass containing a measure or “dose” of absinthe.

Vieux Pontarlier AbsintheVieux Pontarlier Absinthepad
Vieux Pontarlier Absinthe is carefully crafted in small batches using antique alambic stills that were specifically designed to make absinthe. This historic spirit is distilled using locally grown Grande Wormwood.
The name Absinthe comes from the Latin absinthium, which comes from the ancient Greek word for wormwood, the primary ingredient used to make absinthe. Absinthe is a popular liquor made from a blend of herbs including wormwood. Absinthe is also flavored with anise – which tastes like licorice – and sweet fennel. It was very popular in the 19th century and has been immortalized in recent films such as Moulin Rouge and From Hell. Absinthe is known as the Green Fairy ("La Fee Verte") and is often characterized by its green color. This green color comes normally from the blend of herbs used, though certain modern absinthes are clear as well.

Anise is a category of liqueurs (such as arak, pastis, raki, and ouzo) that are flavored with either anise, star anise, or licorice. Anisette is an Italian anise-flavored liqueur mainly consumed in France and Spain. It is sweeter than most anise-flavored liqueurs
