Bourbon Straight
Bonded Whiskey is 100 proof Straight whiskey, usually bourbon
or rye from a single distillery that was produced in a single "season", then aged for at least four years
and it must be sorted and bottled
in a government-supervised "bonded" warehouse. Distillers originally did this in order to avoid having to pay the excise tax until the whiskey was aged and ready for market.
David Nicholson 1843 Bonded Whiskey
Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. This whiskey is 7 years old, 50% alc/vol 100 Proof. If a Bourbon is not vatted or blended with other whiskey, it is called "Straight". If it is bottled with more than 100 Proof (=50%, Vol % Alc. x 2) it may bear the quality statement "Bottled in Bond".
